Adding the seventh title of his short coaching reign at Real Madrid clearly please Zinedine Zidane who noted that the win ends one cycle of success but starts another.
Los Blancos head into the first LaLiga game of the season in high spirits after a convincing win against Barcelona.
“The first part of the game was spectacular,” he said to reporters in his post-match press conference.
“We played with a lot of intensity and we’re happy with one more trophy.”
Marco Asensio scored another stunning goal to cap an impressive performance, something not lost on his coach.
“Not only is he doing great things, the group wants to keep on winning,” he continued.
“I enjoy what is happening, I like football and when I see a goal like that I enjoy it, like everyone else.”
Naturally there will be more pressure on Real to deliver titles but the Frenchman, as always, sounded a note of caution.
“It is not a facade, it will be a long and difficult season,” he said.
“We have not won the league, like last year, we are going to have to fight to the end.
“I’m happy to start this way, to win titles with these players.
“We have finished a cycle with this Supercopa and now we start another with four titles ahead that will be very complicated.
“It will not be easy, but we are prepared for the challenge. “
