Following Wednesday’s 1-0 defeat to Real Betis,
Zinedine Zidane was questioned about the alleged referee differences that Real Madrid and Barcelona have experienced this season.
The Frenchman chose to not associate himself with the topic and instead focused on continuing to improve his players.
“I’m not going to get involved in that, I’ve never talked about the referees and I’m never going to get involved in it,” the coach indicated during a press conference on Friday.
“We do not have excuses.
“We want to do well and continue the work we are doing, not in terms of results, but in terms of what we do.
“I have seen the Betis match two or three times and the content is not bad.
“Other than the game against Levante, I am happy.
“I understand that you are here to talk about it and I respect it, but the content of the matches is good.”
Sergio Ramos echoed his coach’s comments post-match, saying that the more officiating is talked about, the worse the situation becomes.
