France are set to face Bulgaria in World Cup qualification on Saturday and Raphael Varane, who will most likely feature in the match, opened up whether his coach at Real Madrid, Zinedine Zidane, could take charge of Les Bleus.
Zidane has been very successful over the years with the Spanish giants, and the central defender brought up the possibility of his club coach taking the hotseat of the his national side.
“Zidane? Why not?,” the Frenchman indicated in the pre-match press conference. “He has shown his qualities as a coach and has been a great player.
“He is a great coach, so why not?”
In addition, Varane compared Zidane with current national team boss Didier Deschamps.
“They have some similarities, they have won a lot, they have had some pretty good careers,” Varane said.
“They have a lot of experience, they both have the peace of mind when they need to tackle important games.”
