Ahead of Saturday’s meeting between Getafe and Real Madrid , one of the most talked about factors of the match has been the state of the pitch at the Estadio Coliseum Alfonso Perez, however it has been made clear that it will be within regulation on Saturday.
Barcelona were victors there earlier in the season, though the Blaugrana made several verbal complaints about the standard of the playing surface.
There were accusations that the grass was left intentionally too long with the blame for Ousmane Dembele’s injury also placed upon the pitch.
These complaints were heard by the LFP but they reached a conclusion that the surface was well within the parameters that LaLiga has previously outlined to clubs.
Because the grass was prepared in a way that was supposed to suit the home team, albeit within the rules, there was significant ill-feeling within the Camp Nou.
Real Madrid have been concerned about facing the same problem ahead of their visit on Saturday, although it must be said that Los Blancos have never previously had an issue with the pitch at the Estadio Coliseum Alfonso Perez.
The home team are calm, they know their pitch will be within regulation and have no concerns over the upcoming fixture with the defending European champions.
According to MARCA, the length of the grass has not yet been decided upon, the frequency with which it will be watered prior to kick-off will remain at the usual level.
As part of the club’s assimilation process to the Spanish top flight following their promotion in 2014, Getafe opted to utilise a synthetic grass blend within their pitch.
The company chosen was Eurogreen, who also provide a service to Atletico Madrid, Benfica and Los Blancos themselves.
