The best back-up in the world

The strength in depth of Real Madrid’s squad makes them the envy of European football and clubs know that if they want to come to the Bernabeu to try and prise away any of the players then they will have a more than complicated task.

Coach Zinedine Zidane has been adamant that he wants to keep hold of what has become known as his ‘plan B’ and with the players having done so well when they have come on, there is no one at the club who would disagree at the moment.

Players in demand

Casilla, Nacho, Asensio, Kovacic and Lucas are all players that are wanted by other clubs and to this list has also been joined Marcos Llorente who was at Alaves last season.

Interest was shown by Roma in Nacho on Thursday which is probably down to the Italian side noticing that the defender has not been given a chance during the first three official games of the season while Rafa Benitez’s Newcastle United have enquired about Lucas and Casilla.

Asensio has really stood-out during the pre-season and the first few games of the new campaign and it has only led to more interest in him with Arsenal making an approach. Kovacic may not have hit the headlines to the same extent but he has impressed Zidane and the club has fended off interest from Juventus in him.

Meanwhile, Sevilla are keen on Llorente who has had little option to play and is the most likely to be loaned out.
