Real Madrid’s Girona hotel will be heavily guarded

As a result of the security concerns surrounding Real Madrid’s trip to play Girona in Catalonia on Sunday afternoon, Los Blancos’ hotel will be heavily guarded.

Zinedine Zidane’s men will be staying at the Palau Bellavista Hotel in the heart of the old town and are expected to arrive at 22:00 CET the night before, ahead of a 15-hour stay.

Real Madrid are hopeful that a security perimeter will be established around the hotel the night before, so that the players can be allowed to sleep without being disturbed.

The local police force have revealed that the security measures will be similar to those that were in place when Barcelona visited Girona last month, although there will be slightly more concern given the political climate.

Furthermore, this weekend is the middle of Sant Narcis festivities and there will be concerts and events on the Girona streets.

Having his say on the matter, Girona coach Pablo Machin promised that the Estadi Montilivi would respect the opponent, as they always do.
