It is clear that Real Madrid are trying to plan for a successful future and the club have made yet another move to this end with the signature of David Pecellin Garcia, the star of Real Betis’ academy.
The 13-year-old striker was part of the Infantil B team with the Seville club and was even part of the discussions the two clubs held when Real Madrid were looking to sign Dani Ceballos .
Real Betis have had to endure a difficult summer with a number of their talented young players being targeted by clubs from abroad.
As Los Blancos chased Ceballos and Pecellin, Manchester United set about bringing Roberto Gonzalez to Old Trafford although they were ultimately unsuccessful in that endeavour.
Betis vice-president Lorenzo Serra Ferrer made clear that he felt Gonzalez had made the correct decision in staying with the Spanish club as it would aid his development at just 16 years old.
“Roberto was tempted to go to Manchester United but eventually we convinced him that here there are no ceilings or roadblocks, he can develop as a talented player in our environment,” he explained.
Pecellin, irrespective of his tender age, drew the attention of Spain’s biggest clubs during the LaLiga Promises tournament held in the summer of 2016 and it was Real Madrid in particular who showed a keen interest.
It has been a year since that point and the European champions have finally been able to secure his signature after leading the scoring charts in his age group.
Finally it is worth noting that Pecellin belongs to Bahia International, the same agency which represents Ceballos.
