Real Madrid finally win the battle for possession… after 40 Clasicos!

Zinedine Zidane continues to rack up the impressive achievements as Real Madrid coach, keeping the majority of the ball from Barcelona in a Clasico for the first time in almost 14 years.

Los Blancos fans must go all the way back to December 2003 when they last beat the Blaugrana in the possession game, while winning 2-1 at the Camp Nou, which the Catalans are notoriously skilful at.

That means Real’s Supercopa de Espana second leg 53 percent feat is the first such victory in 40 Clasicos.

Additionally, the 2-0 scoreline represents the first time in 24 Clasicos that Barcelona have failed to score, dating back to October 2006 and a Madrid victory by the same scoreline.
