Given their status as the best team in world football, it can be little surprise that Real Madrid have dominated the newly released list of best players for 2017.
FIFA unveiled the list for their ‘The Best’ award on Thursday afternoon, with seven of the 24 players shortlisted coming from the European champions.
Cristiano Ronaldo, Marcelo, Dani Carvajal, Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, Keylor Navas and Sergio Ramos all feature.
To fully illustrate the quality Zinedine Zidane has at his disposal, there was surprise that Isco, Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale didn’t make the list, but it is quite inconceivable that one team could have had 10 players in a list of the 24 best in the world.
Barcelona were represented on the shortlist by Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Andres Iniesta, whilst Neymar made the list for his contributions for Los Cules, but is designated as a Paris Saint-Germain player.
Antoine Griezmann is the only other entrant from LaLiga, whilst Ligue 1 didn’t have any other representative despite the quite incredible performances of Kylian Mbappe, Radamel Falcao and Fabinho last season.
