LaLiga champions first, Champions League winners next and now Real Madrid have become the world’s most powerful brand in football.
The results of a study carried out by Brand Finance sees Real lead the way with 96.1 points, compared to 95.4 held by Barcelona.
In its calculations, Brand Finance take into account the capacity of each club’s stadium, the number of staff and value, the social media presence of clubs, on the field results and level of satisfaction among supporters.
The use of stadium and all income generated is also considered, with the points being tallied to a maximum of 100.
However, Madrid do not lead the charts when it comes to the economic value of clubs, with Manchester United taking the crown.
The Europa League winners are valued at an estimated 1,733 million dollars – around 1,400 million euros – while Real come in at 1,419 million dollars and Barcelona slightly behind at 1,418 million dollars.
