After a week of negotiations over the detail of Dani Ceballos’ move to Real Madrid, both Los Blancos and Real Betis have confirmed that the deal is done.
While a 16 million euro fee was settled on by both clubs, talks continued over the exact nature of the payments as the Andalusians wanted the money up front, even if that meant reducing the amount to the midfielder’s 15m euro release clause.
However, Madrid preferred to pay 8m euros now and 8m euros in the next six months.
In the end, a compromise has been reached to split the cost into 10m euros now and 6.5m euros later, Los Blancos upping the offer slightly to guarantee a speedy resolution.
On July 20, at 13:00 CET, Ceballos will be unveiled as a Real player before heading to the United States the following day to join Zinedine Zidane and co on their pre-season tour.
“The club thanks Dani Ceballos for his services and wishes him all the best in the future,” read the official Betis statement on the deal.
