Mateo Kovacic will be given his chance in the
Supercopa de Espana with coach Zinedine Zidane having decided to play him in midfield at the Camp Nou.
The Croat is ready and knows he has the confidence of Zidane who has already told him that he will play.
While Real have not shone in any of the pre-season matches, Kovacic has done well in the four games that he played and has 210 minutes of football under his belt as well as scoring one of the five goals that the team has scored this summer, against Barcelona.
It was a clinical finish close to the post that left Pique prostrate on the ground and the goalkeeper with little chance of making a save.
They are the reasons why Zidane has decided to put his trust in him and it is true that Kovacic has also achieved what he has with plenty of competition including youngsters like Dani Ceballos and Marcos Llorente that has made him have to rethink his future at the club.
However, the coach is happy and he spoke to Kovacic saying that he wanted him in the squad and that he stays. Now by playing him against Barcelona is the best way to demonstrate that this is indeed the case and not just talk.
The Supercopa is a golden opportunity now for Kovacic to show what he can do and bid for a regular place in the team.
