At a time when Real Madrid needed somebody to take pressure off their stuttering front line, Isco stepped up to the mark by scoring a brace in a 2-0 victory over Espanyol on Sunday.
The Spanish midfielder then stressed that, whilst Los Blancos are struggling to score, they are making many chances.
“We are having a hard time scoring goals, but we have created many chances and that is what matters,” he explained in his post-match interview.
“We are sure this will improve as the rest of the season progresses.”
Los Blancos put draws with Valencia and Levante, in addition to a defeat against Real Betis, behind them as they recorded their first home win of the LaLiga season, with the importance of this feat not lost on the 25-year-old.
“Today was a very important game,” he said.
“We needed to start to get a good feeling when playing at home.
“I’m happy we have done this and now we have to continue this winning streak.”
Isco’s first goal was actually scored with his toe and the midfielder admitted that it wasn’t the first time this has happened.
“I also scored one with the under-21 team, with my toe,” he said.
“It is simply one more resource to use.
“This is football and I’m happy for any kind of goal which gives us the three points.”
Isco’s brace tripled his tally for the season, having only netted in the UEFA Super Cup before this match.
