Germany release Kroos

Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos will play no part in Germany’s World Cup qualifier against Azerbaijan on Sunday.

The reigning world champions have released him from duty after sealing their qualification for Russia in Belfast on Thursday night.

He has been freed as a precautionary measure given that he has been suffering from slight rib discomfort in recent weeks.

With the hard work now done for Germany, the news will be music to the ears of Zinedine Zidane, who will hope to have the former Bayern Munich man in prime condition for the return of LaLiga.
