Gareth Bale’s moment

After a season of disappointment last term, during in which Gareth Bale missed out on his dream of starting in Cardiff’s Champions League final, the Welshman is more driven than ever to succeed on all fronts this time around.

This year, with no international tournament keeping him busy, the winger is keen to take advantage of having a whole pre-season with coach Zinedine Zidane and the rest of the squad, to be at his physical best and to leave his injury problems behind him.

Under Zidane, when fit, Bale is undroppable from the Real Madrid starting XI and until his injuries took over he was one of the side’s most regularly-used players.

Bale trained for the first time on Wednesday at UCLA with the rest of the squad and the player is in good spirits, determined to stay with Real Madrid and to solidify his place in the spine of the team.
