it was back in June when EA Sports announced that Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo would be the face of their ‘FIFA’ video game franchise and on Monday the Vancouver-based company unveiled the official cover art for the 2018 edition, with the Portuguese forward front and centre.
Last year it was Marco Reus and Ronaldo takes over from the German after yet another hugely successful year, in which he lifted the Ballon d’Or in addition to the LaLiga and Champions League trophies.
Promotional images have surfaced in recent months of the 32-year-old in last season’s home kit with his head bowed, yet this image has now been updated ahead of the official release in late September.
Not only is Ronaldo featured on the cover of the game, but he has undergone rigorous motion-capture sessions in order for the virtual game to be able to resemble the real-life version of Portugal’s captain as closely as possible.
Everything from his running style to how he strikes the ball at set-pieces will be identical to what we see from the man himself.
FIFA 18 will be available in stores on September 29 for Xbox One, PS4, PC, Nintendo Switch, PS3 and Xbox 360
