Portugal had their first training session on Thursday ahead of their Confederations Cup debut against Mexico on Sunday.
Cristiano Ronaldo was present for the session and engaged in a long conversation with Pepe and coach Fernando Santos before starting.
During the 20 minutes that were open to press, the Real Madrid star was relaxed and joking with his teammates, as though the investigations surrounding the allegations of tax fraud were non-existent.
While the issue is being investigated, Cristiano Ronaldo will look to guide Portugal to success in Russia, as the perfect warm-up for next summer’s World Cup there.
Also in the squad is Bruno Alves, who was full of praise for his teammate.
“I have no words for what he represents for us,” Alves said.
“He is an idol, even for us players of the national team, I hope he brings more success to Portugal and more goals.
“It is an immense pleasure to see the way he represents our country.”
