Cristiano Ronaldo ends his goal drought despite Guaita heroics

The wait for a first goal of the season for Real Madrid ‘s Cristiano Ronaldo continued in the first half at Getafe, after he was foiled by Vicente Guaita, though the Portuguese would have the last word.

He had failed to score in any of his previous three LaLiga games against Betis, Alaves or Espanyol and his barren spell showed no signs of ending well into the opening 45 minutes against Getafe.

The only time he had an opportunity was on 11 minutes, only to be foiled by a fantastic save from Guaita, who got down very well and stretched out a strong right hand to divert the ball away from danger.

After missing from just two yards out in the second half, he atoned for the error, latching onto an Isco pass on 84 minutes and dispatching an exquisite volley to seal all three points.
