Real Madrid had the Supercopa de Espana won after just 20 minutes of their second leg clash with Barcelona at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, according to Dani Carvajal.
Carvajal was the first of the Real players to speak after the 5-1 aggregate win over the Catalans, and he believes Los Blancos deserved to be crowned Supercopa champions.
“We are worthy winners,” he said to the assembled press.
“In the first 20 minutes we were really on top of them.”
When asked about Marco Asensio’s meteoric rise to stardom and the youngster’s stunning goal to open the scoring, Carvajal admitted he was not surprised by his teammate’s recent performances.
“We enjoy him every day,” he added.
“It does not surprise us, but it was an incredible shot.”
With two trophies already secured for 2017/18 , many are confident that Real can win all six pieces of silverware on offer this year, but the defender was keen to play down that talk.
“We have a spectacular team and we are in a winning cycle.
“There is a lot of football left to play and we are only focused on playing one week at a time.”
