With the October international break having concluded, focus returns to domestic matters in LaLiga with Zinedine Zidane handed a significant boost on Thursday morning with the return of Karim Benzema.
Thursday’s session was the first of the week in which the French coach has had a full group of players to work with.
There remain fitness concerns regarding Keylor Navas, Dani Carvajal, Gareth Bale and Mateo Kovacic, yet former Lyon forward Benzema’s return to training has handed Zidane a further option in attack.
With the clash versus Getafe taking place on Saturday, the 29-year-old has two days to integrate back into the team dynamic and prove his sharpness to the coach.
A hamstring injury has kept Benzema out of action since September and Los Blancos have suffered in front of goal ever since .
Also present at Thursday morning’s session were several Castilla regulars who were invited to take part in an exercise which tested both the physical and technical aspects of the squad. Alvaro Tejero, Oscar, Cristo Gonzalez and Dario were all involved.
Cristiano Ronaldo, Sergio Ramos, Isco, Marco Asensio, Raphael Varane, Luka Modric and Nacho Fernandez were the last group of internationals to join the squad. They all worked without concern and will train again on Friday morning to complete their preparation for the Getafe fixture.
