Benzema: I always think about returning to France duty

long and difficult road back into the France team looks to be beyond Karim Benzema while Didier Deschamps remains in charge but the striker holds out hope of a return.

Not since April 2016 has the 29-year-old been considered by the national team coach following his implication in a sextape scandal surrounding Mathieu Valbuena.

“I always think I’m coming back, I have never lowered arms, but that does not mean it’s an obsession,” revealed the Real Madrid striker.

“It’s true that I think about the national team, but I work day by day on the pitch.”

Benzema has insisted that it’s his instinct to look for success on the international stage as well as at club level.

“I am a competitor and I always like it when the national calls me up,” stated Benzema.

“When all your teammates are called up and you stay here, for a player like me, it’s difficult.

“I have to do a good job at Real to get back in soon.”
