Very happy with the amount of awards that were given to the club’s players and head coach at The Best FIFA Football Awards on Monday night,
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez also had time to joke with former Barcelona right-back Dani Alves.
Zinedine Zidane took the prize for The Best FIFA Men’s Coach, while Cristiano Ronaldo won The Best FIFA Men’s Player award for the second year running.
Sergio Ramos, Marcelo, Toni Kroos, Luka Modric and Ronaldo were all named in the FIFA FIFPro World11, too, and Perez spoke on Spanish radio about bumping into Dani Alves, who was also in the World11.
“I met him in the hallway and, as always, he was very friendly,” Perez said to the radio show ‘El Transistor’ on Onda Cero, and to Radio MARCA.
“We had a little joke; I told him that he should have played in Madrid and he said not to call him.”
The Real president also took time in the interview to heavily praise Zidane for the impact he has had on the team since becoming head coach in January 2016.
“Only from the humility that he had as a player has he been able to achieve everything that he has done so far,” he said.
“Our success is due to the ability of the players and the good work of Zidane.
“It is not easy to manage great players; it is very difficult.”
